YEIDA soon to launch new policy for land allotment to state and central agencies

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA ) announced on Friday that it will introduce a policy for land allotment to various central and state government agencies. This move aims to facilitate the establishment of their offices along the Yamuna Expressway, near the upcoming Noida International Greenfield Airport.

Yeida made the decision following requests from eight different agencies seeking land for offices, training institutes, research centers, and other facilities. According to Yeida officials familiar with the matter, the proposal will be presented to the authority's board for approval on September 26.

Arun Vir Singh, chief executive officer, YEIDA said,"We developed the proposal to allocate land to central and state government agencies in response to their need for space to establish offices. Once the policy is approved, we will be able to meet their land requirements.”

The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has requested 25 acres for a VIP security battalion campus, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has applied for 100-120 acres to establish a world-class training institute. The Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has sought one acre for an office, and GAIL has applied for 25 acres to set up a research and development center.

The Ministry of Communication has requested 2 acres for a post office and 2.5 acres for a cargo hub near the airport. The Public Works Department has sought 4 acres for an inspection building, while the Uttar Pradesh Road Transport Corporation has applied for 10 acres for a bus terminal workshop and residential complex. The fire department has also requested land for fire stations.

Currently, the authority lacks a formal policy for direct land allotment to such institutions. In the past, land was allocated to the police and power departments for substations via a separate application process, following board approval. The new proposal seeks to establish a standardized scheme for government land allocation at market rates, officials said.

The authority has identified 20 plots across various sectors for public infrastructure and institutional use, including 2.5 acres in Sector 22A-22D for a head post office and 15 acres in Sector 17A for institutional purposes. Sector 22E offers plots ranging from 1.25 to 5 acres, while Sector 13 has mixed-use plots of 10 to 20 acres. Larger parcels in Sectors 18, 17B, and 21 are reserved for transportation infrastructure, with additional plots for fire stations in Sectors 18, 20, and 22A-22D.
