Uttar Pradesh yet to come up with Nine more Airports

Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union minister for Civil Aviation publicizes the plans for the constructing additional nine airports in Uttar Pradesh within the period of next two years. Speaking to the queries at some stage in the question hour at Rajya Sabha, the union minister Scindia highlights the momentous focus on the civil aviation sector under the government of honorable prime minister Narendra Modi.

While emphasizing the achievements of government, Scindia affirms that only 74 airports were developed in the first 65 years of Indian independence, whereas in the last nine years, the government under Modi has productively built 75 airports, heliports, and waterdromes that bring the total to 149. Moreover, he denotes that there are only three greenfield airports were built in the early 65 years, compared to 12 greenfield airport built by the present government from the time of 2014.

Concentrating on Uttar Pradesh particularly, Scindia states that only six airports were developed in the state over 65 years, with three extra airports finished in the last nine years.Replying to a question about the Meerut airport installation, Scindia explains that operations with ATR aircraft, utilising VFR (Visual Flight Rating), can begin once the state government assigns an additional 115 acres of land. He explains that currently the Meerut airport is an unlicensed airport recognized throughout the third round of bidding under the UDAN (Ude Deshka Aam Nagarik) scheme to develop smaller regional airports and RCS (Regional Connectivity Scheme) to improve flight operations.

Underneath the UDAN 4.2 round of bidding, the Meerut-Lucknow-Meerut route has been honored to ‘FlyBig’ for the RCS flights operations using a 19-seater type of aircraft with a frequency of 133 seats for every week, not for ATR 72 aircrafts. Scindia denotes that RCS flights can only initiate once the Meerut airport is prepared to functional, licensed, and operational, as per the regulationssketched for the Selected Airlines Operator.
