Trichy is all set to Launch Top-Notch Integrated Bus Terminus by Dec 2023

Trichy’s much-anticipated Integrated Bus Terminus is on track for a partial opening in January. Mayor of Trichy Mu Anbalagan inspected the integrated bus terminus construction site at Panjapur on the Trichy-Madurai National Highway. He said that, 60 percent of the work is done and all the facilities will start operating from December 2023.

According to the mayor, “Bus bays for mofussil buses and work on one of the two ramps were completed. We have expedited civil work. But the commissioning of the project may delay if the northeast monsoon makes a severe impact. 

 

This remarkable project signifies the city’s infrastructural development which aims to enhance the transportation by streamlining the bus service across the city to benefit the commuters. The partial opening signifies a milestone in the completion of the Integrated Bus Terminus, offering a glimpse of the modernized facilities and improved connectivity it will bring to the region.

The new terminus is expected to alleviate congestion, enhance passenger experience, and facilitate more efficient inter-city and intra-city bus services. According to the local body besides the bus terminus the shopping complex will also be unveiled along with the truck terminal in a phased manner after the launching of the new terminus.

Escalator service will also commence in the terminus to connect the passenger waiting area with the bus bays. The IBT would come up on about 40.6 acres of a total of 75 acres of land earmarked for the transport hub master complex. The whole terminus will be wrapped up in a modern state-of-art facilities and architecture like advanced ticketing systems, waiting lounges, and designated platforms for different routes.

The terminus shall have 404 bus bays, including 142 bays for long-distance buses. While Rs. 243.7 crore was allotted for the IBT complex and multi-utility center in Panjapur , the civic body has sanctioned  Rs.106.2 crore for a truck terminal and to develop basic amenities including cement concrete roads and stormwater drains. The new terminus is expected to alleviate congestion, enhance passenger experience, and facilitate more efficient inter-city and intra-city bus services.
