Railway Ministry Installs Digital Display Boards in the Rail Coaches

Owing to the humongous digital awakening, all the sectors have accelerated their infrastructural strategy, and The Ministry of Railways is not leaving behind. According to the recent report by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, more than 12,000 newly-manufactured train coaches have digital display boards containing information such as forthcoming station, destination and running status, among others. This development aims to enhance passenger communication and provide real-time information during journeys.

Vaishnaw informed the Rajya Sabha in a written reply, “Digital display boards containing information like forthcoming station, destination, train running status and other safety information/announcement are provided in coaches of trains like Vande Bharat, Push-Pull, TEJAS, Humsafar etc & Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) and Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) trains.”

The implementation of digital display boards in train coaches will offer a modernization effort within the railway sector. Now passengers can get crucial information, including upcoming stations, train schedules, and other relevant updates through these advanced display systems. The move aligns with the broader digital transformation initiatives undertaken by the Indian Railways to improve the overall travel experience for commuters.

Vaishnaw also added “AC economy coaches and VISTADOME coaches are also provided with a digital display board. At present, more than 12,000 coaches over Indian Railways are equipped with digital display boards.”

In an interview with PTI, he informed “Indian Railways endeavours to proliferate the same in phases by provisioning in all newly-manufactured Vande Bharat coaches, Push-Pull coaches, TEJAS coaches, EMUs coaches along with retro-fitment in existing coaches.”

This upgradation will help the Railways to enhance the customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. If the digital innovation continues like this, it is expected to cover an even larger portion of the railway network, benefitting a growing number of passengers across the country within short period of time. This remarkable step of Ministry of Railways is the proof of railway’s dedication towards providing more connected, accessible and passenger-friendly travel experience.
