Police detains 3 fraudulent realty agents for tricking a Rs.23L from businessman

On Thursday, the North Cyber police apprehended three individuals who impersonated real estate agents and defrauded a property seller of Rs.23 lakh. The fraudsters had made false assurances to the seller, guaranteeing a substantial deposit for their flat.

The accused were arrested from Vasai and Nalasopara and have been produced before the court.

During the month of February, a Malad-based entrepreneur was looking for a residence available for a substantial deposit. He had listed his criteria on a real estate platform and stumbled upon a contact number belonging to an individual who identified as a real estate agent.

The defendant had published an advertisement on the website, offering a "flat on heavy deposit in the Mira Road area." The plaintiff discovered the advertisement, which was posted under the name "Global Home Best Service," and contacted the defendant using the provided contact number. 

The defendant proceeded to send photos of various apartments in the Mira Road, Vasai, Nalasopara area to the plaintiff via WhatsApp. The plaintiff chose a specific apartment and transferred a sum of Rs 22.31 lakh to the bank accounts of the supposed "landlord," following the instructions of the fraudulent real estate agent.

After several days of not receiving the accommodation that was promised, the complainant came to the realization that he had been deceived. Subsequently, he reported the incident to the cyber police.

The North Cyber unit of the police then conducted an investigation to trace the transaction details made by the complainant to the individuals responsible. On Thursday, the police apprehended three individuals named Haushila alias Shiva Shivkumar Shukla, aged 27, Yogesh Dulerai Karwat, aged 55, and Vishal Rajnath Yadav, aged 29. These individuals had been posting fraudulent advertisements on reputable property websites, posing as landlords and estate agents in order to deceive innocent people.

The North Cyber unit police team successfully traced the transaction details from the complainant to the accused individuals. Haushila alias Shiva Shivkumar Shukla, 27, Yogesh Dulerai Karwat, 55, and Vishal Rajnath Yadav, 29, were apprehended by the police on Thursday. These individuals had been placing deceptive advertisements on popular property websites, deceiving individuals by impersonating landlords and real estate agents.

According to police officials, one of the suspects pretended to be a real estate agent while the others posed as landlords. Authorities are currently investigating the extent of the trio's fraudulent activities, including the number of victims they targeted and the various websites where they posted false advertisements to attract potential victims.
