Maharashtra chief minister gave up the additional charges of development in Pune Municipality Areas

The CM of Maharashtra Ekanath Shinde has cancelled the extra additional development charges to be imposed on lands under Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA) areas with retrospective effect for July 2018 to April 2023 which brings a sigh of relief for the construction builders and real estate agents. The CM also ordered.

Shinde gave his statement in a meeting which was conducted on 17th may in order to discuss the authority’s budget issue, which is nearly 1926 crore for this year. The meeting was held at Sahyadri guest house where Pune Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil joined through video conference, apart from him there were Health Minister Dr. Tanaji Sawant, Chief Secretary Manoj Saunik, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Nitin Karir, PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Rahul Mahiwal, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh and other officials.

As per the report of the officials of PMRDA a lumpsum amount of 332 crores need to be recovered from those builders who got the permission to construct building over a stretch of land of 6000 square km for the construction of Pune metro Line 3 Hinjewadi-Shivajinagar.

PMRDA deputy collector Ramdas Jagtap said that, “There is provision in the law that authority can charge double development charges for vital transport and other infrastructure projects. Hence, the PMRDA, had proposed additional development charged from July 2018 to April 2023. These charges are now waived off and will help the residents as they do not have to pay charges of the last five years. As instructed by the CM, we will look into the possibility of additional development charges based on locality, like urbanized areas adjacent to corporation limits and less in distant areas.”

On the meeting the CM announced that the citizens need not to pay additional developmental charges will be waived off which was applied for five years duration. The authority also approved the appeal of transferring 6.5 acres of land in Moshi,Pune, to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation who will construct a statute of Chhtrapati Shambhaji Maharaj. In the meeting few budget allocating plans regarding town planning, infrastructure development, housing project, metro project and the ring road, implementation of the Maharashtra Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act 2023 in the PMRDA area were also approved.
