A flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group that ranks top among the peak publicly listed companies in India, Grasim Industries is planning to start profitable production of its paint venture in Punjab soon. The company has finished the construction of its integrated paint production unit at Hi Tech valley in Dhanansu village of Ludhiana.
The manufacturing unit is expected to set up at cost of Rs. 910 crore, until the paint unit has accounted its trial run. It is projected to create the employment opportunities for at least 500 persons directly and more than 1,500 persons indirectly. During the inauguration of commercial production, the development work would acts as catalysts to boost up the industrial activity in the respective region.
The Ludhiana paint plant is one of the six plants that being set up by the company across the country. The plant possesses the best-in-class safety and environment protection systems through performing zero-liquid discharge.
Previous year, the company Grasim Industries had commenced its paints business & trade under the brand name called ‘Birla Opus’. Grasim Industries started construction of the plant on 61 acres in December 2022.
Confirming the start-on of the developmental work, DPS Kharbanda, Director of the department & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Invest Punjab, says, “Recently we had a meeting with the representatives of Grasim Industries and they are ready to commence commercial paint production. They may start paint manufacturing here at the end of February.”
