Dubai International Airport soon to surpass Passenger Records of 2019

One of the busiest Airports of the world Dubai International Airport is all set to surpass its record number of passengers of 2019, by this year. This extraordinary comeback of travel industry after the major strike of pandemic marked the robust recovery in travel.

This airport is home of the long-haul carrier Emirates, has had 64.5 million passengers pass through its cavernous concourses through the third quarter of this year. That puts it on it on track to reach 86.8 million passengers for the full year, which would exceed its 2019 figure of 86.3 million passengers. It had 66 million passengers last year.

Amidst lot of challenges and obstructions affecting certain routes and lower traffic from China, Dubai's diverse network of 250 destinations and 95 airlines across 105 countries has contributed to its strong rebound.

He further added, I think now because we've got the full network with 250 destinations, 95 airlines and 105 countries, that's why we've been able to recover so strongly.”

During the third quarter Dubai's main airport handled 308,000 total takeoffs and landings. India, a long key route for Emirates' East-West travel strategy, led all countries in destinations followed by Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, the U.S. and Russia. Emirates and other airlines in the United Arab Emirates, an autocratic federation of seven sheikhdoms have continued to fly to Moscow even during Russia's war on Ukraine. Recent war between Hamas in the Gaza Strip has affected the number of flights.

CEO of Dubai Airport, Paul Griffiths told in the interviews, “So for the end of the year, current predictions, 86.8 million, a little bit shy of the pre-pandemic numbers. But actually, hopefully, by the end of the year, we may be able to raise that forecast.”

This announcement was made during the Dubai Air Show at Al Maktoum International Airport, where confidence in the aviation outlook for Dubai was highlighted, supported by significant aircraft purchases by Emirates and FlyDubai.
