DRPPL requests 15 acres of vital Residential land from MMRDA

DRPPL – Dharavi Redevelopment Project has requested the MMRDA – Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development to provide 15 acres of land in BKC - Bandra-Kurla Complex on a five year lease. In official statement dated on 11th of June 2024, the deputy collector of DRP – Dharavi Rehabilitation Project requested this land for rates on commercial rates. 

DRPPL proposes to utilize this land, earlier a metro works forming plot for keeping machinery needed for redevelopment. 

In addition to this, DRPPL has also requested 12 acres of land from the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) holdings. 

The desirable land comprises two vital bus depots in Sion East, kalakilla and Dharavi with a gross parking capacity for around 300 buses. Also the area houses the sought-after transport section, power supply sector facilities, staff housing for 60 individuals and convenient features and facilities for conductors and drivers.

In the month of February 2024, the cabinet of Maharashtra permitted a proposal to ask the union to transfer 283.4 acres of salt pan at present market rate to the state for the project on a lease of 99 years. RLDA – Railway land development authority has hand-overed  27.57 acres, comprising the scrapyard near Mahim station to Dharavi Redevelopment Project.

DRPL is a SPV which is special purpose vehicle articulated by the state authority and the business giant Adani Group and fosters to construct about one to 1.5 lakhs apartments.
