Construction Giant Ultra-tech Cement invested Rs. 130 billion for adding 21.9 MTPA capacity

Recently, the famed cement maker Ultra-Tech announced about the huge investment of Rs. 130 billion to increase its production capacity by 21.9 million tons per annum in the third phase of growth. After completion of the whole task their total capacity will touch 182 MTPA. The board of the Aditya Birla Group flagship firm sanctioned this third phase of growth related to the investment of Rs 130 billion to enhance capacity by another 21.9 MTPA through a combination of brownfield and greenfield projects.

Presently the company is working with domestic grey cement capacity of 132.45 MTPA. After the implementation of this third phase of growth Ultra Tech will make sure a substantial presence across the country: 35.5 MTPA in the south, 40.4 MTPA in the east, 36.2 MTPA in the north, 35.7 MTPA in the central region, and 33.8 MTPA in the west. 

This commendable plan involves the establishment of four greenfield and four brownfield plants, in addition to four greenfield bulk terminals. The company declared that the commercial production from these new capacities will start bit-by-bit from FY26 onwards. Certainly, this development will boost the company’s global production to 187 MTPA.

Commenting on this huge developmental revolution, the Chairman of the Aditya Birla Group, Kumar Mangalam Birla opined that, this initiative is representing UltraTech's ongoing dedication to India's growth narrative. He also shared that, from the past seven years. UltraTech had strategically invested more than Rs. 500 billion to support India's rapidly evolving infrastructure landscape. He threw light on this huge decision saying that, their fresh commitment of Rs. 130 billion underscored their unwavering belief in India's economic potential. He exclaimed in joy that, UltraTech had not only expanded their reach but also contributed significantly to fulfilling India's requirements for housing, roads, and other essential infrastructure.
