Bihar Govt buys 50 acres land to raise Maha Sita Temple in Sita's Birthplace

The state government of Bihar is setting up to build a devotional Grand temple for Goddess Sita in the district of Sitamarhi & has determined to purchase 50 acres of land parcel around an existing area in the temple.

The official move of the decision to construct the Temple was taken at the cabinet meeting as the district Sitamarhi is believed to be Sita’s birthplace.

Regarding this, Kameshwar Chaupal, Ex-MLC, Bharatiya Janata Party says, “Sitamarhi is to Sita what Ayodhya is to Ram. It is a holy land for Hindus. People from all over the world will now come to worship at the Ram temple in Ayodhya, and they would like to visit Sita’s birthplace as well. Our contention is that a grand temple for Sita, befitting her stature, should be built in Sitamarhi”.

As per the report of The Indian Express, the land of 50 acres would be obtained over and above the 16.63 acres that the government of Bihar acquired earlier for the redevelopment of the existing area around the temple. In addition, the structure of the temple would have to be constructed through the public trust, since it related to the case of Ram Temple.

Similarly, S Siddharth, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar says, “The government cannot build a temple. But there have been demands from several quarters that a grand temple should be built here. The government is acquiring the land to make that possible”.
Also he added that amenities such as public services & hotels would be set up to facilitate the requirements of the pilgrims.
