Bengaluru Govt Stopped Unauthorised construction in the vicinity of Haralur Lake

The Namma Kere Trust organization from JP Nagar recently highlighted the issue of illegal construction activities in the buffer zone of Haralur Lake located in the Mahadevapura Zone of Bengaluru. Citizens' prompt action and intervention by the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike have resulted in temporary cessation of the unauthorized construction activity, which has brought attention to the dire need of conducting a comprehensive survey of the lake's boundaries.

R Rajagopal, the Managing Trustee of Namma Kere Trust, expressed his gratitude towards the authorities for their prompt responsiveness in addressing the issue of unauthorized construction near Haralur Lake. He specifically mentioned the Special Commissioner (Environment and Lakes) and her team, as well as the Town Planning management for their swift action.

Recently, officials from JDTP (Mahadevapura Zone) conducted an inspection at the site and discovered numerous pillars erected near the lake and construction debris scattered around the area. They quickly identified that the construction work was being carried out without a sanctioned plan and immediately halted the ongoing work. Thanks to the efforts of the authorities, the citizens of the area can rest assured that their beloved lake is being protected and preserved.

It's understandable that citizens are feeling concerned about the situation with Haralur Lake. I can sense the urgency and importance of taking prompt measures to safeguard its borders. The community's written correspondence addressed towards BBMP highlights their genuine worries, and it's essential to conduct a prioritized encroachment evaluation led by the Lakes Department. It's important to identify the builder responsible for the trespass, provide site specifics, and serve formal notifications complying with regulations. Rest assured that I am here to help and will do everything within my capacity to support the community's cause.

In his letter, Rajagopal brought to attention his concern about the construction of foundation and pillars in broad daylight under the supervision of local officials. He also questioned the measures being taken to address this issue. While the enforcement in this matter is ongoing, there is always a risk of violators pursuing their illegal ambitions. Therefore, Rajagopal politely requested that officials take necessary and effective action to prevent such incidents from happening again in the future.
