Alumil Invites Indian Architects to Participate In ArXellence 3 Competition in Greece

Alumil India, the fully-owned Indian subsidiary of Alumil Group – one of the global pioneers in designing and manufacturing of high-quality architectural aluminium systems invites Indian architects to participate in ArXellence 3. The international competition, organized by Alumil and AEGEAS, focuses on the “Preservation of Historical Memory & Promotion and Protection of the Special Environmental Characteristics of Gyaros Island,” under the endorsement of the Technical Chamber of Greece.

Gyaros Island, once a site of political exile, is now significant for its ecological value, hosting the largest population of Mediterranean monk seals. The competition requires the creation of a museum to honour those who suffered on the island and a research centre to promote environmental protection strategies in the Mediterranean.

“ArXellence stimulates discussion on sustainable design and construction. We invite Indian architects to create a self-sufficient hub on Gyaros Island, addressing biodiversity in the Eastern Mediterranean,” says Mr Theodoros Axouristos, Managing Director, Alumil India.

The competition jury features prominent architects, including India’s own Sanjay Puri. Prizes include €40,000 for first place, €20,000 for second, €10,000 for third, and six honourable mentions.

“Reducing the carbon footprint while making the environment sustainable is crucial. If every company undertakes projects like this, the world would be a better place,” Ar. Sanjay Puri.

The competition has two main requirements. The first is the creation of a museum that will pay tribute to the people who were imprisoned, tortured and suffered on the island, as well as to those who experienced all these hardships and atrocities and died on Gyaros. The second, concerns the development of a Research Centre, through which strategies for environmental protection and sustainability in the wider Mediterranean region will be promoted.

With its launch in India in 2015, Alumil India has made a significant impact with notable projects, including 25 South and Crescent Bay in Mumbai, W Resort in Goa and GVK Sky City in Hyderabad. The company is committed to delivering top-quality aluminium solutions, covering everything from windows and doors to entrance doors, facades, partitions and outdoor solutions like curtain walls, frames, pergolas, and fencing systems.
