Action Needed - Illegal Real Estate Operations in Bengaluru Housing Water Supply Building

For the past two years, private persons running a real estate company have been unlawfully occupying a Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) building in Ambedkar Nagar, close to Whitefield.

Media sources claim that the government has done little to remedy the matter despite numerous complaints from locals.

The structure, which was first built by the BBMP in 2002 to house water pumps and supply the ground floor water tank, has two rooms above it.

The story went on to say that the occupants, who allegedly broke into the facility after the tank stopped operating, are now using these rooms—which were meant for maintenance—for commercial purposes.

According to the report, Sonnappa T, a local resident and teacher at a government school, has frequently voiced his concerns to BBMP and BWSSB authorities, pleading with them to act and evict the unauthorized residents. Sonnappa claims that a group of five people use the rooms every day to talk real estate and engage in other similar activities, allegedly with the help of a local goon.

A BWSSB representative acknowledged receiving the report but said the rooms were locked when they arrived at the location.

The son of a Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) employee was recently detained for allegedly manipulating property records using official e-Khata login credentials.

Police discovered that Naveen had been fraudulently exploiting his mother's login credentials to access the BBMP system, even though he was not authorized to do so. While trying to change the address on an e-Khata document, he was intercepted. According to the article, Lokayukta officers promptly filed a complaint, which resulted in the filing of a case against Naveen and his associates under several BNS Act sections.
