De Square’s adventure started with the Talwar Residence in Bangalore’s Koramangala. The firm stood by its philosophy of fusing design and nature, in addition to marking their debut in the architectural industry. Every choice was made with consideration for the original building and its natural surroundings, turning what began as a renovation into a complete makeover.

The 60 by 80-foot site where the Talwar Residence was located was covered with trees. De Square chose to build a large home that embraced modernity while retaining the essence of the past, rather than demolishing the original, beloved building. The spirit of the ancient house is still there inside, a reassuring homage to memories preserved in the midst of fresh starts.

The fact that De Square chose to build around trees rather than remove any was evidence of its sensitivity. In order to provide a naturally shaded balcony, one tree even made its way through a slab as part of the design. There is a vista of greenery from every room, integrating the outdoors into the residents’ everyday lives.

De Square’s strategy is not limited to this.
