Mirages Azul: Hsc Designs creates a creative & contradictory canvas with organic forms in Chennai

While designing this space for a young spatial and experiential design startup, the brief was very clear: They wanted a space that reflected their values and design aesthetics, along with their branding colors. The client, who is a very creative designer, wanted the space to be the start of her aesthetic exploration journey.

When conceptualizing the office for this young experiential design startup, we wanted to craft a space that embodied their essence—a haven where creativity could thrive in an environment that mirrored the company’s energetic and unconventional approach.

The design of this office space, aptly named the “Mirages Azul,” serves as a living representation of the brand’s ethos.

The eclectic mix of modernity and futuristic elements comes alive when you step into space, beckoning you into a world where design speaks louder than words.

Upon entering the space, one of the first things you’ll notice is how the neutral concrete floors and walls act as a calm foundation, like a blank canvas, for the bold expressions of design that follow. Natural light floods in through large windows, illuminating the space and accentuating every curve, shadow, and reflection in a manner that breathes life into the office. The rawness of the industrial elements—like the polished concrete and clean lines—grounds the room, while the playful, boundary-pushing furniture adds a layer of vibrancy and unexpected intrigue.

The chair in the room, constructed from cylindrical metallic tubes, is more than just seating. It’s a sculptural centerpiece that defies expectations. Its sleek, robotic silhouette challenges the traditional notion of an office chair, inviting both visual and physical engagement. Placed beside it is a desk with organic, fluid lines that flow like water, exuding an unpredictable and almost kinetic energy.

The desk’s form is an intentional departure from the rigidity of conventional workspaces, creating a sense of movement even while stationary. Its deep blue glass base stands in contrast to the smoothness of the tabletop, adding layers of texture that demand to be felt and experienced.

The heart of the space lies in the details, particularly the bold injection of colour seen in the glossy sapphire blue. This partition wall anchors the room, offering a structured counterpoint to the organic forms of the furniture. The glass blocks reflective surfaces catch the shifting light, adding depth and a sophisticated touch to the office while maintaining an air of youthful exuberance.

This rich blue shade ties into the startup’s vibrant, creative energy, while the grid-like arrangement of the tiles introduces a sense of order amidst the chaos. The ceiling, however, is the pièce de résistance. Adorned with fragmented, mirrored metal panels, it creates a shimmering tapestry of light and reflections. This feature encapsulates the very essence of the young brand—a ceiling that appears to shift and move like fragments of a shattered mirror or the night sky reimagined. The jagged, dynamic arrangement of the panels speaks to the startup’s daring, forward-thinking philosophy, as though every facet of this ceiling reflects the endless potential of the work below it.

The design decisions made for Mirages Azul are deliberate and deeply symbolic. Every element—from the reflective ceiling to the abstract shapes of the furniture—has been chosen to evoke a sense of creativity, spontaneity, and boldness.

It’s a space where the line between art and function blurs, where every surface, shape, and texture invites interaction. The office doesn’t merely reflect the startup’s identity; it amplifies it. In this sanctuary of creative chaos, innovation isn’t just possible—it’s inevitable.
