World's largest airport soon to launch in Dubai with 400 gates & 5 runways

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, has given his approval for a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport, with a staggering cost of USD 34.85 billion

This terminal will become the world's largest international airport, capable of accommodating up to 260 million passengers. Sheikh Mohammed mentioned that the Al Maktoum International Airport will be five times larger than the current Dubai International Airport. He also stated that all airport operations in Dubai will eventually be shifted to Al Maktoum in the near future.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, ruler of Dubai and prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, said,"We approved the designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport and (are) commencing construction of the building for AED 128 billion ($34.85 billion)."

Once the new terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport is fully operational, it has been stated by the government that it will have the capacity to accommodate a staggering 260 million passengers annually.

According to Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al-Maktoum, the chairman of Emirates, the airport will serve as the new base for Emirates and Flydubai, as well as other airline partners facilitating global connectivity to and from Dubai.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the head of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and the Chief Executive Officer of Emirates, announced that the first stage of the project is scheduled to finish in ten years, providing the ability to accommodate 150 million passengers each year.

The designs for the new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport have been approved, and construction of the building is now underway with a budget of AED 128 billion ($34.85 billion).

Al Maktoum posted on X,"Al Maktoum International Airport will enjoy the world's largest capacity, reaching up to 260 million passengers. It will be five times the size of the current Dubai International Airport, and all operations at Dubai International Airport will be transferred to it in the coming years. The airport will accommodate 400 aircraft gates and feature five parallel runways. New aviation technologies will be employed for the first time in the aviation sector.”

Since 2010, Al Maktoum Airport, situated on the outskirts of the city, has struggled to capture a substantial share of Dubai's air traffic. The authorities have set their sights on replacing Dubai International Airport, which, despite its capacity to handle up to 120 million passengers per year, is unable to expand due to its central position within the city.
