UP Govt finally approves YEIDA's Master Plan 2041 designed for Yamuna Expressway

The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (Yeida) has declared on Tuesday about the Master Plan 2041. They want to take this plan further towards the catchment area of Noida international airport in Jewar, which is termed to become operational by April-end 2025, and also areas along the Yamuna Expressway.

The authority has referred many objections raised by the Uttar Pradesh chief town and country planning department regarding the Urban Raya Centre, a key component of Master Plan 2041. The UP government has raised few suggestive changes related to zoning regulations for data centres, green areas, healthcare facilities, research centres, transport infrastructure, and Yamuna flood zones, among others.

 

During the January 2024, YEIDA Government has approved the plan and forwarded to the central government for approval, But in July the Govt told YEIDA to make changes and then to resend it for approval.

In opinion of chief executive officer, YEIDA, Arun Vir Singh, “We drafted the suggested changes and then resent it for approvals. And finally the government has approved the Master Plan-2041. Now this master plan will guide us in industrial and urban development to cater to the demands created by the airport project.”

The notified area of Yeida covers six districts namely Bulandshahr, Gautam Budh Nagar, Aligarh, Mathura,Hathras and Agra spreading over 3,352 sqkm. The Master Plan-2041 emphasizes on Phase 1 with a coverage area of 759 sqkm which includes Gautam Buddh Nagar and Bulandshahr.

Officials have stated that Master Plan-2041 comprises of various colossal undertakings, including a medical device park, semiconductor park, Olympic park, electronic city, film city and central business district (CBD), as well as an aerotropolis around Noida international airport.

Yeida has planned a 480-hectare area for commercial business development that will cater to city-level business and shopping amenities. Additionally, in preparation for upcoming international sporting events in India, Yeida intends on constructing an Olympic park which offers state-of-the-art sports facilities and accommodations suitable for athletes' needs.

Arun Vir Singh also noted that, a Heritage City project was planned near Mathura in the Raya Urban Centre at a cost of Rs.7,200 crore in the first phase, covering 753 acres, and the Master Plan 2041 was got approved, the authority would begin development in Raya of Mathura, Gautam Budh Nagar and Bulandshahr area.

YEIDA was created by the Uttar Pradesh government on April 24, 2001 to facilitate organized development spanning across a distance of 165km along Yamuna Expressway connecting Greater Noida and Agra. The primary goal behind its establishment was generating employment opportunities through industrial setup while enhancing urban areas in the vicinity.

YEIDA supervises land acquisition from six districts comprising Gautam Budh Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Hathras, Mathura and Agra covering an area of around two lakh hectares encompassing over one thousand villages.
