Ruby Hall- Ramwadi Stretch of Pune Metro will be operational from March 6

Metro Line-2 of Pune, which is connecting Ruby Hall Clinic to Ramwadi stretch, will commence its operation from March 6 afternoons onwards.

The director (works), Pune Metro, Atul Gadgil stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the stretch on March 6 around 11.30 am from Kolkata via video conferencing. We will run two metro trains from Ruby Hall to Ramwadi and vice versa after flagging. The function will be held at Ruby Hall metro station.”

The executive director of Pune Metro, Hemant Sonwane, stated, “The passenger service will start after two hours of inauguration. It will be around 1 pm onwards.” 

The inauguration of a 5.5-kilometre stretch of Ruby Hall to Ramwadi, Pune Metro will be completed and proceed towards a 15.7-kilometre distance of Vanaz to Ramwadi. The commissioner of Metro railway Safety Guard granted permission under few conditions for passenger service to Ruby hall towards Ramwadi stretch last week.

The inauguration ceremony was to held on 19th February, but was postponed due to some problems. The Maharashtra Railway Corporation Limited, which is known as Maha Metro is in charge of all the operations.  

An official of Pune Metro confirmed that, all the arrangements have been done for the inauguartaion ceremony which will be taking place in the following week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will brighten the event by joining through video Conference.

Gadgil further added, “PM Modi will also inaugurate PCMC to Nigdi extended route work. The programme will be held at PCMC metro station.”

The north-south corridor stretching 17.4 kilometers from Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate, featuring 14 stations (nine elevated and five underground), passes through the industrial area of Pimpri-Chinchwad and further into old Peth areas of the Pune city. Currently, this line is in operation from Vanaz to Ruby Clinic, with the remaining 5.5-km stretch from Ruby Clinic to Ramwadi preparing for inauguration.

During the Last November the construction work was stopped after receiving the complaints from commuters regarding traffic disruptions on road. This new line will ensure a strong connectivity with Yerawada station after Bund garden on Ahmed Nagar Road.
