PM Modi lays foundation stone of New Terminal of Jammu Airport

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a bunch of transformative development projects during his recent visit in Jammu. He launched a wide range of infrastructural development project including for railway, aviation, and road sectors, worth over Rs. 32,000 crore.

During his visit, PM Modi laid the foundation stone of new state-of-the-art terminal building of Jammu Airport. The new building of Jammu Airport, is expanding over 40,000 square meters and the terminal is is redefining the air travel in the region. This new terminal will play a vital role in in enhancing air connectivity, thereby catalyzing tourism and trade.

This newly launched terminal will accommodate up to 2000 passengers during peak hours. The whole construction of the airport is designed in an eco-friendly manner aiming to fulfill the sustainability goals while also showcasing the rich local culture of the region. 

During the inauguration he interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes as part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ program. PM Narendra Modi quoted, Today’s initiatives will propel holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir. We will ensure a Viksit Jammu Kashmir. The mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas is the foundation of the development of Jammu and Kashmir. A new Jammu Kashmir is coming into being as the biggest hurdle to its development was removed with the abrogation of article 370.”

He further mentioned that the expansion work of Jammu Airport, connecting Kashmir to Kanyakumari by rail, and the flagging off of trains running from Srinagar to Sangaldan and Sangaldan to Baramulla. PM Modi also listed the road projects in the region. Among today’s projects, he mentioned the second phase of the Srinagar Ring Road which will improve access to Manasbal Lake and Kheer Bhawani temple. Similarly, the Srinagar-Baramulla-Uri highway will benefit farmers and tourism. Delhi Amritsar Katra Expressway will make it easy to travel between Jammu and Delhi. 

Speaking about the huge campaign of electrification of railways underway in the country, the Prime Minister congratulated the people of Jammu and Kashmir on getting the first electric train today. Modern trains like Vande Bharat the Prime Minister said Jammu Kashmir was selected among the initial routes of the trains. He said two Vande Bharat trains are running in Jammu and Kashmir and access to Mata Vaishno Devi has improved.

This holistic approach of infrastructural development is fostering India’s economic development by boosting the tourism of Jammu and Kashmir.
