Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi reveals the mega plan of the Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Project and executed an "Ashram Bhoomi Vandana" on his trip to Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The total budget for this project is estimated at Rs.1200 crore. According to the official statement released by the Government, the striving project launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi fosters to refurbish the infrastructure development around the environment of Sabarmati Ashram in order to present amazing & high-tech amenities to the visitors & set up a top notch & universal monument that committed to the Nation’s Father Mahatma Gandhi.
Also the projects targets to regenerate the philosophy & teachings of Mahatma Gandhi for the existed and future generations.
During the event of Ashram Bhoomi Vandana, PM Modi stated, "12th March is that historic date when Bapu changed the course of freedom struggle and Dandi March became registered in history in golden words. In independent India, this date is a witness to the beginning of such a historic occasion. On 12th March 2022, the country began Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav from this Ashram."
According to the Press Release, beneath the mega project, existing five acre land of the ashram next to the banks of Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad & extended to 55 acres & 36 obtainable buildings will undergo re-installment.
The Sabarmati Ashram Memorial Project comprises the maintenance of 20 old buildings, specific restoration of 13 buildings and redevelopment of three buildings. It also includes the establishing house administration facilities, facilities for visitors such as orientation centre, interactive workshops on ‘Charkha’ spinning, handmade paper, leatherwork, cotton weaving and many other public services.
