MNRE stretches the deadline of R&D proposal till April 12th

On Tuesday, April 9, the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy declared that the deadline for submitting research and development (R&D) proposals for the National Green Hydrogen Mission has been extended until April 27. This announcement was made in a release on Tuesday. Initially, the ministry had invited R&D proposals from the industry on March 16, 2024, with a submission deadline of April 12. The ministry has decided to extend the deadline in order to accommodate stakeholder requests for more time to submit well-crafted proposals, as mentioned in the official statement.

The objective of the ministry is to assist institutions in preparing and submitting comprehensive proposals by granting them an extended timeframe. The National Green Hydrogen Mission was initiated on January 4, 2023, with a budget of Rs.19,744 crore allocated until 2029-30. Its primary objective is to enhance the production, storage, transportation, and utilization of green hydrogen, with a focus on improving its economic viability. Additionally, the ministry has released guidelines for the implementation of the R&D Scheme under this mission, with a total budget of Rs.400 crore until 2025-26.

The R&D Program aims to improve the cost-effectiveness, productivity, security, and dependability of procedures and technologies utilized in the green hydrogen value chain. Moreover, it seeks to promote cooperation between industry, academia, and government in order to create an innovation environment for green hydrogen technologies.

The R&D programme provides comprehensive support for all aspects of the Green Hydrogen value chain, encompassing production, storage, compression, transportation, and utilization.
