Museum of Art and Photography in Bangalore opens up the horizons for the Smooth blending of Traditional Art and Contemporary Architecture

Bangalore is now adorned with the storehouse of art and architecture through the building of famous The Museum of Art and Photography (MAP) which is called India’s Silicon Valley, which was designed by Mathew and Ghosh Architects this year. The museum measuring around 269 Square feet, located in the vicinity of the center of extravagant urban cultureof Silicon Valley of India, UB City Mall and Cubbon Park.

The whole Architectural design is made just like a water tank and the outer covering is embellished with Steel cut designs just like the ones we find on the water tanks. The seven storied building stands in the heart of Bangalore city having a sculpture adorned rooftop a part of which has a big dining room constitutes the artworks by Kodanda Rao Teppala, Smoor café in the basement, with an auditorium, conservation room, and a library.

 The designer Architect Mathew and Ghosh has beautifully left very part of it spacious with a subtle of elegance. It has a 620 meters space for the gallery, besides having a L shaped space for holding exhibition on the ground floor which is free for visitors, 130-seater gallery is situated on the first floor, and above this floor there are four galleries for paid exhibitions. The Architecture is inspired by the old school structure and an ideal blending of urban architecturewith using proper ideology of antique artefacts and colonial narratives.

This museum has curated around 60,000 items which were collected from various realm of the society connecting the historical culture with contemporary urban world. In the fourth floor there is a store house of award- winning vintage photographs which are priceless featuring the significant Artworks Jamini Roy, Mrinalini Mukherjee, Ravinder Reddy, Arpita Singh and so on.

The whole empire took six years to come to its present status. The primary concern of establishing this magazine is to showcase the raw and unfiltered cultural and architectural heritage to the people of India. Each and all artefacts and antiques are curated separately keeping in mind their belonging period and they are arranged with maximal level of priority. Each element is curated tactically which instantly attract the eyes of its visitors.

The Founder and Trustee Abhishek Podder joyfully remarked that, “It’s rare that one gets to realize a dream. Especially when the budget for the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York is nearly equivalent to India’s budget for all its museums.” Today’s youth is very much drawn to traditional art and architecture so establishment of such depository of arts will surely intensify the heritage of India to the modern world.
