IKEA's 1.5 lakh sqft new warehouse soon to come up around Delhi-NCR

Prominent Home furnishing brand IKEA, which is based in Sweden, has signed a MoU with Rhenus which is a global logistics firm to set up a large warehouse facility near Gurugram to boost home delivery experience for its customers in the Delhi-NCR region.

The warehouse of IKEA is expanded over 1.5 lakh square foot, which is going to construct in Farrukhnagar near Gurugram. This store of IKEA will cover both the online e-commerce sector as well as offline business. The huge warehouse will be capable of storing and fulfilling over 7,000 products.

 

Saiba Suri, Country Customer Fulfilment Manager IKEA India, said, “Our collaboration with Rhenus transcends decades. Bringing their expertise and experience in growing IKEA in other global markets to our operations here is an exciting opportunity for both in our India journey. IKEA is excited to announce its first foot down in Delhi NCR alongside Rhenus.”

Saiba added that, the warehouse is expected to be operational  from next year. Regional CEO of Rhenus India, Vivek Arya, said that the new warehousing project in India is a step towards a more inclusive and diverse global presence.

He mentioned, “The warehouse facility is well connected with other parts of Delhi NCR though robust rail and road network including expressways. In future the need for IKEA products including furniture is expected to go up and this facility will help in meeting that demand. The warehouse shed is ready and fits outs will start soon.”

IKEA and Rhenus have been maintaining a strong partnership since 1988,witnessing significant milestones in logistics and home delivery services across various countries including Europe, Germany, Poland, Italy, and Bulgaria.

Arya also added, “Celebrating over four decades of partnership with IKEA, we approach this global expansion with the same fervour and dedication that has been the hallmark of our relationship.”

The company said that, metro cities of Northern India like Delhi, Gurugram, Noida have been experiencing a drastic jump in the sale of luxury real estate segment and for this reason the demand of home furnishing brands and stores are surging every day.
Observing such swelling deman, IKEA has plans to launch its omni-channel presence in the region starting mid-2025, reaching customers across Delhi NCR and surrounding markets.
