Hyderabad's newly opened Colosseum is like Disney World for those who love interior design

Hyderabad is home to the recently opened Colosseum, a mammoth design experience center, opened its doors to the design fraternity this year. India's most abundant and diversified materials are housed in this building, which is more than two lakh square feet and has seven floors. This building provides one with everything they need, from soft furnishings to furniture, under one roof. More than 400 architects, interior designers, HNIs, and media outlets observed and celebrated the center's grand opening.  Designed and curated by architects Kunal & Khushboo Khandelwal of Studio Design Inc, each floor of the Colosseum has its rhythm, entitled with a unique name. The first two floors Plinth and Zenith, introduce interior design at micro and macro levels by hosting multitudinal luxury setups. Maze's third floor embodies interconnected passages that branch into smaller arrangements to display modern and contemporary furniture products.

Moving to the next floor, the Kiosk, all about drama and oomph, is home to bespoke and curated furniture from Indian and International design houses. This floor is a coalition of smaller kiosks dedicated to each designer. The Box on the fifth floor represents structure, function, and form, collated with distinctive setups of wardrobes and kitchens. Continuing to the sixth floor welcomes one into the world of soft furnishings. Loaded with cataloging wallpapers, carpets, cushions, curtains, ceramics, and accessories, The Library, with its luxurious setting, has a European touch to it. Concluding the user’s journey is the Vault on the seventh floor, symbolizing the light at the end of the tunnel, dedicated to lighting, art, and accessories.

Astonishing installations can be found on each of the center's seven floors thanks to a collaboration with Studio Design Inc., Alex Davis, Ankon Mitra, Ikai Asai, Nimrat Narang, Stitch Story, and Shades of India. Each installation uniquely manifests and interprets design and creativity, establishing a visual treat for visitors. To take design conversations a notch higher both in India and worldwide, A carefully chosen selection of unique collectible items will also be on display at The Colosseum. In this collaboration, prominent brands and designers like Scarlet Splendour, Wriver, Klove, POD Pieces of Desire, Ravi Vazirani Design Studio, Design Ni Dukaan, Escape by Kreatonomy, and others are collaborating. The design language of this colossal centre is rooted in the designers’ travel diaries and experiences. Inspired by Salone de Mobile and several other Biennales and exhibitions, Kunal and Khushboo grasped the potential of this multi-faceted space with an amalgamation of interconnected yet peculiar design concepts and ethos. The inter-woven story across all floors creates a cohesive experience, with luxury as the common denominator.
