On November 25, Union Minister Piyush Goyal recommended that CREDAI form a committee to investigate the negative effects of construction activities on the air quality of 20 major cities and advised real estate developers to use environmentally friendly construction methods.
According to him, in order to reduce pollution, the industry should use steel and precast fabrication in better construction methods. This would also assist to speed up construction.
“I had asked CREDAI to consider setting up a team to study whether, at least in the metropolitan cities or the 20 top towns of the country, where we can see the impact of construction leading to pollution, leading to air quality deteriorating”, Piyush said.
He asked CREDAI to make this their objective and provide the administration with an update.
He added that real estate developers should take into account the need for EV charging infrastructure because parking is becoming a major problem in some urban areas.
Additionally, Goyal requested that real estate developers create and construct net-zero developments.
In order to take advantage of prospects in real estate development and renovation, Goyal also recommended that CREDAI members think about entering foreign markets.
Also he stated, “Rental housing, I think that's another area where the government is also willing to come forward. We have launched a scheme earlier. We are willing to have a discussion on this, with your industry, how we can make affordable rental housing going forward … to make sure that nobody ever has to live in a slum”.
