Telangana Govt targets Rs. 2, 000 crore from Rajiv Swagruha Property Auction

The Telangana government is set to auction various properties under the Rajiv Swagruha Corporation by the end of February to generate funds for housing development. The auction will include completed and incomplete flats, plots, and independent houses, with the state aiming to raise at least Rs. 2,000 crore.

Although the total value of these properties exceeds Rs. 3,200 crore, only those without legal disputes will be sold. The revenue from this auction will support the Indiramma housing scheme, reinforcing the government’s commitment to addressing housing needs.

The properties up for auction are located within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority, and several districts. Most of these constructions, about 15 years old, were left incomplete due to various challenges.

The list of auctioned properties includes flats, multi-storey towers, and plots in urban and suburban areas such as Bandlaguda, Nagole, Pocharam, Gajularamaram, Jawaharnagar, Khammam, Vikarabad, and Kamareddy. Originally, these were part of the Rajiv Swagruha scheme launched by the YS Rajasekhara Reddy-led Congress government in undivided Andhra Pradesh to provide affordable housing for the middle class.

Despite eight previous auction rounds since the scheme's launch in 2007, many flats and plots remain unsold. The Congress government under Revanth Reddy has formed three committees to review properties across GHMC, HMDA, and district areas and recommend price adjustments. The committees have now submitted their pricing suggestions.

According to a Senior Rajiv Swagruha Corporation official, 760 flats are available for sale, including 159 in Bandlaguda and 601 in Pocharam, offering options from 1-BHK to deluxe 3-BHK units. So far, 2,956 flats have been sold through previous auctions.
