The Supreme Court on January 9 warned that bookings would be cancelled and flats sold to other buyers if home buyers fail to take possession of units in the Amrapali projects being completed by NBCC, a state-owned enterprise.
A bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma directed Attorney General R Venkataramani, appointed as the court receiver, to submit an updated report on unsold properties and cases where buyers have not responded despite outreach efforts.
“We request the court receiver to provide the latest report on flats where possession has not been taken despite efforts from him and the NBCC,” the bench stated.
Senior Advocate Ravinder Kumar, representing the Noida and Greater Noida authority, informed the bench that the Greater Noida authority had approved the construction of additional flats in the Gold Home Project. However, he noted that further compliance was needed from NBCC for five other projects.
The bench acknowledged the submission of Senior Advocate Siddharth Dave, representing NBCC, who stated that compliance involved uploading project maps on a portal, which had already been completed for four projects such as Centurion Park, Leisure Valley, Leisure Park, and Dream Valley.
The bench instructed the Greater Noida authority to approve the remaining four projects and directed the Noida authority to expedite approval for additional flats in the Silicon City project.
Additionally, the Supreme Court ordered the Uttar Pradesh government authority to issue the necessary environmental clearances for these projects at the earliest.
