Shifting homes is representative of fresh starts and new firsts. The phenomenon is thrilling and nerve-wracking and fills you with excitement about what’s to come. Mindful designing of the residents’ interests helps create a safe haven to nurture interests and even revive some old hobbies! Amidst the euphoria, a connection with nature helps steady and ground the mind. At studio dvāra, we worked with a family from Old City, delivering a new home that aims to grow with them.
Situated in Narsingi, this 4450 Sqft villa houses a family of five: a young couple with their children and their father.
The client's brief was to create a home in the bustling gated community in Hyderabad that is conducive to growth and a reminder of how far the family has come. The 4-bedroom house is created by employing the principle of minimal intervention with maximum impact.
As you enter, the airy drawing room greets you. Tactfully, the walls and upholstery are kept minimal to draw focus to the exemplary craftsmanship in the select furniture pieces in the room. The drawing and dining rooms are separated by a sliding partition in fluted glass to enable visual continuity while using the space in different capacities.
Similarly, a rattan sliding folding partition between the living and drawing rooms opens up the space for gatherings while maintaining a neutral and airy theme.
The plain white walls allow for a chance to pause and reflect. They provide the perfect opportunity to see natural textures together wooden furniture, fabrics and indoor plants. Furthermore, creating an impactful space planning strategy meant maximizing space in the bedrooms. Here, closets are designed in both the master bedrooms behind the partitions in the bedrooms.
The terrace features a bespoke pergola with perforated concrete blocks that create an exciting play of shadow and light throughout the day. “147” receives an abundance of daylight, being an East-facing villa. The harmony of natural light, breathable spaces and uniformity of the colours in the house allow for freedom of expression, lending it a sense of home.
