Raheja Developers faces Legal Action for Structural Audit payment Failure of Rs. 77 Lakh

Raheja Developers is under scrutiny for failing to deposit Rs. 77.28 lakh required for the second phase of a structural safety audit for its group housing projects, Raheja Vedanta in Sector 108 and Raheja Atharva in Sector 109.

Despite multiple reminders and commitments, the developer has not adhered to the payment directives issued by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP).

Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar has now suggested stringent measures, recommending that further permissions for Raheja Developers be withheld until the pending amount is paid.

In a letter to DTCP Director Amit Khatri, Kumar stated that the developer should be instructed to deposit the amount in an escrow account and, if they fail to comply, strict action or a suspension of permissions should follow.

DTCP official Amit Madholia warned that if Raheja Developers continues to disregard orders, legal action, and heavier penalties may be pursued to protect public interest. Meanwhile, residents of Raheja Vedanta and Atharva are anxiously awaiting assurance of their safety and a resolution to the matter.

According to district administration officials, completing the structural safety audit is crucial to safeguarding the lives of thousands of residents. The audits were ordered in response to complaints from the resident welfare associations (RWAs) of both societies, highlighting concerns about building stability.

While the developer initially issued a statement, it was later withdrawn with a comment that legal advice would be sought before further remarks. The DTCP issued detailed memos in September 2022 specifying the conditions for conducting structural audits. The authorities remain firm on ensuring compliance to address safety concerns.
