Prime Minister Narendra Modi will distribute over 65 lakh property cards on Saturday as part of the SVAMITVA Scheme, according to the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Beneficiaries from more than 50,000 villages across 10 states such as Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Mizoram, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh, and two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, will receive the property ownership cards.
The SVAMITVA (Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas) scheme aims to provide rural household owners with legal property ownership documents, also known as ‘Record of Rights,’ through land parcel mapping using drone technology.
The Prime Minister will preside over the distribution ceremony via videoconference, interacting with selected beneficiaries and delivering a nationwide address. The event will mark a significant milestone in the scheme’s progress, surpassing the preparation and distribution of 2.24 crore property cards, with about 65 lakh cards being distributed in a single day.
Union Minister of Panchayati Raj Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lalan,' Minister of State for Panchayati Raj S P Singh Baghel, and Ministry Secretary Vivek Bharadwaj will participate in the event. Several chief ministers, Union ministers, state ministers, and Panchayat representatives will also join virtually.
Additionally, over 230 district-level events are planned for the physical distribution of property cards. Around 13 Union ministers are expected to be present at designated locations to oversee these distribution ceremonies.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to empower rural citizens by formalizing property ownership, promoting financial inclusion, and reducing property disputes through advanced technology-driven solutions.
