Odisha Govt Invites Applications for Urban PM Housing Scheme

According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the Odisha government has requested that all civic bodies in the state start the process of accepting applications for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0. To this end, civic bodies have received an instruction from the Housing & Urban Development Department's Odisha Urban Housing Mission (OUHM).

It stated that ULBs have been advised to set up helpdesks at their offices, plan ward-wise camps, and work with common service centers (CSCs) to assist applicants in order to guarantee a seamless application process for eligible beneficiaries.

The process was started here by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) by setting-up a camp in Gadakana.

On September 17, this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated his 74th birthday by visiting Gadakana and interacting with PMAY (U) beneficiaries.

Gadakana is to be developed as a model one on the advice of Housing & Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra.

The PMAY (U) 2.0 was approved by the Center in August of this year, with the goal of building one crore houses for urban poor and middle-class families over the course of the following five years with a government subsidy of Rs. 2.30 lakh crore and an investment of Rs. 10 lakh crore.

The scheme aims to provide affordable housing while ensuring inclusive urban development. Beneficiaries are encouraged to utilize the support structures established to make the application process smooth and accessible, promoting transparency and efficiency in implementation. The government emphasizes active participation from stakeholders to achieve the ambitious target of transforming urban housing.
