The Gautam Budh Nagar administration announced on Wednesday that it has completed a social impact assessment for acquiring around 5 acres of land needed for a golf course project in Noida’s Sector 151 along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway.
Due to farmer’s refusal to sell their land, work on the project had been stalled for a prolonged period.
This led the Noida Authority to seek assistance from the district administration to acquire the remaining land under the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act of 2013-14, officials said.
“With the social impact assessment in Kambakshpur village completed, we are likely to proceed with Section 11 of the process. The expert group will hold a public hearing after providing notice about the date, time, and location. This step ensures that the affected farmers have a chance to express their views. Afterward, the social impact survey report will be published for transparency and better understanding by landowners,” said Bachchu Singh, Additional District Magistrate, Gautam Budh Nagar (Land and Acquisition).
The administration aims to acquire the required land within six months, as more than 70% of the project land is already in possession of the Noida Authority, eliminating the need for farmers' consent.
Once the public hearing is concluded, objections will be invited under Section 15, allowing farmers to raise concerns about the acquisition. “Since we are in the advanced stages, we anticipate a swift completion of the process,” Singh added.
In June 2021, the Noida Authority engaged a private firm to develop the golf course in Sector 151A along the expressway, but progress was delayed due to unresolved land acquisition issues.
