Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Jayakumar Gore has directed officials to ensure that all Gharkul beneficiaries receive their rightful homes under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY). He emphasized prioritizing landless homeless individuals under the Gharkul Yojana.
A review meeting for the Konkan Division, concerning the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, was held at the Ministry. The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Yogesh Kadam, Principal Secretary of the Rural Development Department Eknath Dawle, Konkan Divisional Commissioner Rajesh Deshmukh, and other key officials, including Zilla Parishad CEOs and project directors.
Minister Gore stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is committed to ensuring every citizen secures a home, while Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is focused on maintaining quality and accelerating housing construction under PMAY. To support this vision, the Rural Development Department's various schemes within the government’s 100-day program should be implemented with greater transparency and efficiency.
The state has already achieved its goal of constructing 20 lakh houses, and Gore urged authorities to expedite the approval process for all eligible beneficiaries so construction can commence without delay. Priority should be given to those without land, and a separate list should be created for those who have land but lack housing. Once approvals are completed, details should be shared with village gram sabhas.
Gore also instructed that the list of Gharkul beneficiaries be publicly displayed at Gram Panchayat offices to ensure transparency and community awareness. Additionally, he stressed the timely disbursement of Gharkul installments to all beneficiaries.
