MHADA Lottery Live: Over 68,000 applications received for 2,030 affordable homes in Mumbai

The Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has received over 68,000 applications for the 2024 housing lottery, which was launched last month. The scheme offers more than 2,000 affordable homes, priced between Rs.29 lakh and Rs.6.82 crore.

After the announcement, MHADA received nearly 30,000 applications by August 29, which doubled to over 68,000 within two weeks.

This surge occurred after MHADA reduced the prices of 370 affordable homes by 10% to 25% on August 29.

As per MHADA's data, 68,651 applications have been submitted, and 49,284 applicants had paid the required earnest money deposit (EMD) by September 11. 

The MHADA lottery 2023 attracted over 1 lakh applications for more than 4,000 affordable homes available for sale in Mumbai.

The MHADA lottery 2024 offers apartments priced between Rs.29 lakh and Rs.6.82 crore. Most units in the higher income group (HIG) are priced between Rs.1 crore and over Rs.6 crore. These homes are located in areas such as Andheri, Antop Hill, Juhu, Goregaon, Tardeo, Vikhroli, Powai, and others.

The most expensive unit, priced at Rs.6.82 crore, is located in south Mumbai's Tardeo area and spans over 1,500 sq ft. This ready-to-move apartment is on a higher floor, offering views of the Mahalaxmi Racecourse and the sea.

MHADA officials have stated that the process to apply for MHADA lottery 2024 is entirely online and prospective homeowners can monitor all updates pertaining to the lottery at https://housing.mhada.gov.in/.

September 19 marks the final day to submit applications for participation in the MHADA lottery of 2024.
