Gram Chaupals are playing a crucial role in identifying eligible beneficiaries for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Rural), according to a state government spokesperson.
These community gatherings are designed to address both personal and public grievances directly within the village, operating on the principle of "Problem of the Village, Solution in the Village." Organized every Friday in two Gram Panchayats of each development block, the initiative aims to provide grassroots solutions and enhance local governance.
The spokesperson noted that Gram Chaupals have significantly accelerated the selection process for PMAY (R) beneficiaries in rural areas.
By engaging directly with villagers, officials can better identify and verify those eligible for housing under the scheme.
To further streamline the process, an online survey is conducted using the Awas Plus App, ensuring transparency and efficiency in selecting beneficiaries. The use of technology simplifies housing construction procedures while reducing the scope for errors and delays.
Previously, rural beneficiaries had to visit government offices and submit offline applications to avail of the scheme’s benefits, which often involved lengthy processes.
The state government has since modernized the application system, allowing people to apply through the PMAY Mobile App. Document verification is now conducted at the Tehsildar's office, making the entire process more accessible and convenient for rural applicants.
The use of Gram Chaupals, combined with digital tools, highlights a proactive approach to rural development, improving the delivery of housing schemes and addressing community issues more effectively.
