GIC quarantines existing system & starts investigation on Malware attack

On June 20, GIC Housing Finance Ltd made an announcement regarding a cyber-security incident. The incident involved a malware attack on certain end-user systems. The company was informed about this by its Cyber Security Department on June 19, 2024, at 5:14 PM.

According to the exchange filing, the company has recently been made aware of a malware attack that has targeted certain end-user systems within our organization. As a precautionary measure, they have promptly disconnected the affected systems from their network to prevent any further damage or spread of the malware.

Following the malware attack, GIC Housing Finance promptly segregated the compromised systems from the network in order to mitigate any potential escalation. The organization reassured stakeholders that there have been no reported instances of operational disturbances thus far.

A thorough inquiry is presently in progress, entailing discussions with pertinent parties to ascertain the underlying reason for the incident and execute essential corrective measures.

The GIC housing finance Ltd. said,"We further inform that presently, no operational disruption has been observed and a detailed investigation is being conducted in consultation with relevant stakeholders to assess the root cause and take remedial action as necessary."

In the first quarter of the year, GIC Housing Finance recorded a 2.56% increase in its consolidated net profit, amounting to Rs. 53.67 crore. This figure shows a growth compared to the Rs. 52.33 crore profit reported in the same period last year.

The company said that a thorough investigation is currently being conducted in collaboration with pertinent parties to evaluate the underlying reason and implement appropriate measures as required.

The company's net consolidated total income stood at Rs.265.54 crore in Q4, down 7.61% in the same quarter last year.
