DLF 5 cuts Water & Sewer connections to 81 Homes after OC revoked

On Wednesday, the department of town and country planning (DTCP) revoked the occupation certificates of 81 houses, prompting DLF 5's facility management to cut off water and sewer connections to those homes.

The properties that are impacted fall under the housing category of economically weaker section (EWS) and span 60 square yards.

In these units, commercial operations and rampant illegal construction were ongoing, according to DTCP. Numerous of these houses were turned into guesthouses and lodgings for a fee, which put more strain on the neighborhood's infrastructure and essential services.

"In all five phases, the infrastructure has been severely strained by commercial usage and illegal construction. We were forced to cut off the water and sewer connections for these 81 homes after DTCP revoked the OCs," a DLF official said.

The action was started last month by the DTCP enforcement team, which was led by former District Town Planner Enforcement (DTPE) Manish Yadav.

A hearing on the petition pertaining to the violations is set for January 10 at the Punjab and Haryana High Court. A thorough survey report, an action-taken report, and a suggested plan of action for resolving the issue are required of the authorities.

Priti Mishra, a protester, even made a threat to commit suicide. "It is illegal and improper for these water and sewage connections to be removed. For the past fifteen to twenty years, people have resided here. Where are they going? These unlawful and unjust acts will not be tolerated," Mishra declared.
