According to SVR Srinivas, CEO of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project, the master design for the project should be ready in a month, and the tenement survey should be finished in the upcoming months as well.
On February 27, Srinivas told reporters that the rebuilding and rehabilitation project would cost about Rs. 3 lakh crore in total.
The Dharavi redevelopment master plan draft is complete, and the last elements are being finalized for submission.
According to him, the master plan should be completed within the next month and released into the public domain after approval.
“We had a target to complete the survey by March, but now that looks difficult, but at least the numbering will be completed, and survey will also be completed in coming months. We have got land in Kurla, and more land will also be available in the coming months", Srinivas added.
According to Srinivas, more than 80,000 tenements have been numbered and more than 50,000 tenements have been surveyed.
Srinivas went on to say that the project is enormous and that they anticipate spending around Rs. 3 lakh crore in total.
About 250 to 300 acres of land have already been granted for the rehabilitation of Dharavi people, he noted.
The Adani Group and the Maharashtra government jointly hold Dharavi Redevelopment Project Pvt Ltd (DRPPL), which is currently Navbharat Mega Developers Private Limited (NMDPL). It is sometimes referred to as "the first step towards making Mumbai slum-free" and "the greatest urban revitalization project in the world."
The region gained notoriety as one of the shooting sites for the Oscar-winning movie Slumdog Millionaire. It occupies 600 acres, 296 of which will be used for new development.
The project will be finished in 17 years. However, after project clearances are obtained, the rehabilitation phase of Dharavi's reconstruction must be finished within seven years.
