The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) court, led by Chairman Vivek Kumar Singh, has issued arrest warrants against the directors of three construction companies. The action was taken to recover approximately Rs. 21 lakh owed to three homebuyers after builders failed to comply with refund orders, an official confirmed.
One of the cases was filed by Gopal Swaroop Ravi, who sought a refund of Rs. 3.5 lakh. His complaint was initially settled in March 2023, with the builder ordered to repay the amount. However, after the builder failed to comply, Ravi filed an execution case in January 2024 to enforce the order.
Another case involved Suresh Narayan Singh, whose complaint was resolved in January 2024 with a directive for the builder to refund Rs. 10 lakh. When the builder did not honor the decision, an execution case was filed in June 2024 to recover the amount.
The third case was filed by homebuyer Dinesh Kumar, who was awarded a refund of Rs. 7.84 lakh in August 2023. As the builder failed to make the payment, Kumar initiated an execution case in September 2024.
With the builders repeatedly failing to comply with RERA’s orders, the court has taken strict action by issuing arrest warrants, ensuring that homebuyers receive their rightful refunds. This decision reinforces RERA’s commitment to protecting homebuyers' rights and holding builders accountable for legal obligations.
These actions highlight the increasing efforts of RERA to ensure that builders fulfill their obligations to homebuyers. By issuing arrest warrants, the court aims to send a strong message to the real estate sector about the importance of adhering to legal orders and protecting consumer rights.
